  • Both are equally good. Swimming is a great workout because the water produces resistance on all sides. I would say do what you like better. If you are enjoying your workout you are more likely to keep up with it.

  • Aragorn:

I’m a swimmer and I’ve lost weight swimming and doing water aerobics, but it really depends on how much exertion you put into the exercise. Just being in water (which is colder than skin temp) will burn calories, but you’ve got to work either way. Both are good and both will burn calories and help you lose weight. Pick the one that you’re willing to stick with.

  • I think that swimming is the better option. An elliptical machine will only work certain parts of the body, but swimming works all the muscles in your body. It is a more endurance workout than just being on an elliptical machine, and it will help with fat loss better

  • Swimming and elliptical training are both good ways to exercise to lose weight. If you enjoy both of these activities you might want to alternate between these in order to keep your workouts fresh.
