Lose 5 Pounds Per Week – Is it Possible and If So, How?

We are surrounded by weight loss promises made by clever marketers who wish to take the most of our hard earned money. One of the promises that I hear is one of prolonged weight loss at a particular pace. For instance, one of the questions I recently was asked was whether it is possible to lose 5 pounds per week.
My answer is of course not. You only have so much weight that you can lose, how can anyone promise you that you will lose 5 lbs or any other amount every week, month, or year?
It can’t be done. You may be able to lose 5 lbs per week in the first few weeks of your weight loss process, but the more you lose, you will likely see that your weight loss rate is diminishing. Someone who has a little extra weight often loses it more slowly than someone who has a lot of weight to shed.
What you need to do is focus on finding a weight loss plan which can help you shed weight at a good pace and make it easy for you to maintain it far into the future. This plan has to incorporate a reasonable and sensible eating routine along with regular exercise.
