Do The Weight Loss Side Effects Of Topamax Usually Wear Off After A While?

I was just curious because someone told me that they lost a lot of weight at first, but then the effects wore off. Is that a normal phenomenon? The wearing off, I mean. I’m not on the medicine for the purpose of weight loss at all. I’m on it for its migraine prevention. I’m taking 150mg per day.

hey! i took that too for migraines. i also lost a little bit of weight at first, but it did wear off and i gained some back…
I used to work with people with epilepsy, many of whom were on topiramate for seizure control, another of its uses. We never experienced any weightloss for any significant time. Occasionally for the first month, but often put that down to a change of routine and feeling better generally, with the controlled epilepsy and being more awake, less likely to munch for emotional reasons. Not sure how migraine control is affected by it though.
