How Much Exercise Do Chihuahuas Need?
![]() |
I know that you have to let out dogs a least three times a day to do their business, and for exercise. I just wanted to know how many minutes of exercise Chihuahuas need on each of their walks. Is there only one walk in the day for exercise, and for the other two do you just bring them out so that they can do their business?

In my expierence they do fine with their pee/poop walks and then playtime inside, unless its mid 60′s -low 70′s i find that they would rather sun in the yard anyway. We walk ours 2x a day for about 10 minutes ( or let them run in the yard) and usually two more 2 minute out and pee walks. they play together constantly so i would assume if your playing with your chi yourself doing lots of fetch with the ball or toy ect it should be fine with the indoor playtime.
BUT
that said I like to get my male out for at least 15 minutes 2x a day on the weekend when im home with him constantly, because hey… they get bored with the indoors and get annoying
in the good way….
dogparks are great as well… dont let their size deter you most hold their own… also check out http://www.meetup.com for a chi meet up in your area! -
they dont need a lot of exercise but you need to walk them once a day for about 10 or 15 minutes.

My sister has one and she takes her on a 2 mile walk each day. Now they don’t need that long of a walk but I would say a mile a day for a walk should do the trick

Chi’s really only need a small walk a day. You need to take them out several times a day to pee/poop. They are very easy to keep unlike my big boy Great Dane that doesn’t seem to settle down lol.
