Secrets For Success on the Nutrisystem Weight Loss Program

The other day, I had someone at my work approach me and ask if I would share any “secrets” about my success on Nutrisystem. My coworker was considering this diet and wanted to ensure that she was happy with the results. I suppose she suspected that I might have been cheating or doing other things to take the diet to a more dramatic level. I had to assure her that what I was doing wasn’t all that special. Basically, I just keep a careful watch on my ketosis level (and adjust accordingly) and although I try to be stringent about sticking with the program, I don’t beat myself up too much if I cheat just a little. I’ll explain this more in the following article.
What I Think Is The Secret To Great Nutrisystem Results: If there is a secret to Nutrisystem, I think that it is summed up in one word: ketosis. This is a fancy word that goes hand in hand with another phrase that the company likes to use repeatedly: “glycemic friendly.” Here’s how these things work together. All of the nutrisystem foods are low in carbohydrates, and the carbs that the foods do include are the “good carbs.” Meanwhile, they’ve also made the foods high in protein and fiber. This combination is meant to do two things. First, it makes you feel full even though you’re consuming a lower amount of calories. Second, it forces your body to rely on fat stores for fuel since it doesn’t have the carbs for this job any longer. So, what happens next is that your body starts running on and burning it’s fat. The result of this is faster, more dramatic weight loss.
My Nutrisystem Secret Weapon: Ketone Strips: There is a tool that you can use so that you don’t have to guess as to whether you are in ketosis. Now, there are some things that would indicate to you that you’ve reached this level. Many people notice that they just aren’t as hungry and that the cravings no longer have a foot hold on them. Some people say that they notice more energy and, without fail, if you are in ketosis, you will typically see an acceleration of weight loss, especially in the beginning.
But, with ketone strips, you can take the guess work out of the equation. This little tool will tell you without a doubt where you are in this process and they are inexpensive and easy to find. You’ll often see them in the diabetes care section of pharmacies or grocery stores.
If you use them daily, you’ll soon be able to tell which of the sides / foods that you’re adding in agree with this process and which don’t. If you notice that a particular food is driving up your levels, then remove that food from your diet. This works because everything else should be constant. What I mean by that is that the Nutrisystem foods are already “safe” and will keep your levels stable. But, where you have some variability is through the fresh side items that you are adding in. And, we’re only human. Some of these sides are not going to be as “glycemic friendly” as others. The strips will help to decipher this for you until you get to a regimen that you know is pretty constant. I was always surprised that some foods that I thought were off limits actually turned out to be OK.
Staying The Course: What I’m about to tell you now is really common sense and not a secret, but I’m going to mention it because I see countless people make this very common mistake. As I said earlier, you’re human. You are bound to not do everything perfectly. There will be days when you either out and out cheat or take a few liberties with your sides. This may or may not bump you out of ketosis. But if it does, do not allow this to derail you. So many people will let one slip up be the end of this experience for them. Don’t fall into this common trap.
It’s really OK because you can probably get back into fat burning mode within three days. This is just a small delay and it doesn’t have to derail everything that you are trying to accomplish. Honestly, the people who I know who’ve had very dramatic results on Nutrisystem have done so because they have just stuck with it. The first ten pounds becomes twenty and then fifty and so on. If you quit every time you don’t like what the ketone strips are showing you, then you’re going to have a harder time. Vow to just do the best that you can and to stay the course. Eventually, this will pay off big time.
