Weight Loss – Has the Bikini Body Diet Been Replaced by Surgery?
![]() |
I’m pretty sure that the bikini body diet was invented on the same day as the bikini. Think about it? Before that fateful day, women all around the world were aloud to swim in outfits that we now consider as gym wear. So what if you had a little bit of cellulite here and a sagging tummy after the birth of your children… simply cover up in meters of spandex and enjoy the day at the beach.
Sadly, we cannot go back to those days. Whereas I’ve always lived with the bikini and has grown to get used to the yearly bikini body diet, I can’t say that I’m too impressed with the latest trend to rather opt for surgery. I know we live in a quick fix society, but this might be taking it a step too far.
Weight loss surgery is not a new invention. The first operation already took place back in 1954. Weight loss surgery options include gastric bypasses, gastrointestinal surgery, and stomach stapling. Other less popular weight loss surgeries include stomach wrapping, biliopancreatic diversion, jejunocolic bypass, and truncal vagotomy.
Now, there are cases when weight loss surgery can help with serious health issues. Obese individuals often suffer from diabetes, gall bladder disease, hypertension and high cholesterol. Let’s look at a couple of weight loss surgeries and please take note that these should only be used as a last resort, and not a quick fix bikini body diet alternative.
Most weight loss operations decrease the size of the stomach, in order for the individual to feel fuller faster. If you are ever tempted to replace your bikini body diet with surgery, you should take into account that you will have to follow a strict diet after surgery. You will not be able to eat a lot of food, and often won’t be able to eat any fatty foods. If you do not follow these strict dietary guidelines, you will get sick.
One of the latest weight loss surgeries involves inserting a ‘lap band’ in the stomach. The lap band is meant to limit food intake and give the individual a sense of fullness. Doctors insert the band, and the band can be adjusted according to the individual’s dietary needs.
This specific kind of weight loss surgery is said to be less invasive and more effective than recent weight loss medical procedures. Medical personnel have already conducted a 3-year lap band study, which had positive results. The study showed that the lap band surgery helped 66% of all patients to lose at least a ¼ of their weight. It was still no walk in the park, however, and patients reported quite a few side effects. I doubt whether your diet would cause you abdominal pain, heartburn, band slippage or vomiting.
I for one will rather stick to my trusty old bikini body diet. If you haven’t found the correct diet for you, try the Strip that Fat diet system; it will change the way you think about dieting.
