What Amount Of Time Is Recommended For Beginning An Exercise Regimen?
![]() |
I’ve never been one to exercise very much, and I really need and have a desire to begin an exercise regimen. I have begun water aerobics & enjoy that, I would also like to introduce some of the circuit machines too. How often should I exercise & for how long? By the way, I’m diabetic with high blood pressure, my doctor has okayed my exercising though.

I exercise minimum 1 hour 6 days a week.
It is my understanding, if you haven’t been one to exercise, you should start with 20 minutes every other day.
You need to get your heart rate up and bring it back down.
I highly recommend you hire a trainer to get you motivated for a start, or join an exercise class, maybe at your local junior college or park and rec division.
Water aerobics is a great exercise class. Good luck with your program.
well it is know to me that you should exersize 3 time a week for 30 minutes a day
If your just starting out 1 hour is to much.
when you start you should probably go for about 30 minutes
every other day of the week.
it also depends on how you are exercising…
I.e cardio, muscle working and so on
but thats what i started with and it worked for me
have fun exercising xoxo <3
1 hour
3 times a week
-to start
start out with 1 hour aerobics and build up from there. to make your program for free and track your gains and losses, go to shapefit.com or org, i forget and it has all these exercises to help you become a better you. i wish you success in your exercise regime
Perhaps start with a simple walking regimen for 30 minutes a day. After two weeks, increase the incline and the time to 45 mins. Two more weeks, then do an hour and pick up the pace a bit. That should be a start. Make sure to take vitamins and eat right and drink plenty of water. Most people can handle 2-3 bottles of 20oz water a day.
try 40 min. every other day.
