The reason why people are able to survive long periods without any food, is because your body burns less calories. The less food you get, the less calories your body burns. When a person is not eating much, for example when being on a low calorie diet or just simple starving, then the metabolic rate slows down. The slower your metabolic rate is, the less calories your body burns.
Over thousands of years our bodies have developed a very successful and highly developed weight regulating mechanism. This means our body recognizes a food shortage and decreases its energy expenditure to “help” you. The number one goal for your body is to keep you alive, it does not care at all how you want to look. A severe restriction in calories, whether it is from a diet or simple starvation, is a threat for you.
So if you just found out the quickest diet to lose weight and want to put it into practice, then you would have to eat very little food. When you eat very little food, then the survival mechanisms kick in very quickly and your body starts to burn much less calories. Yes, you may lose a lot of weight at first but it never lasts for a long time and it never will. You can´t outsmart your body with diets.
