The rate of your metabolism is dependent upon your age, sex, weight, body composition, etc. Your metabolism will increase while you are exercising to provide your body with the fuel it needs, but the number of calories burned or the rate at which it increases depends on the type of exercise you are doing. Studies have shown that if you do high intensity exercise, your metabolism will stay revved up for anywhere from 24-48 hours later. Doing resistance training (with some sort of weight) will increase your lean muscle tissue. This in itself increases your metabolism, even when you are not working out. The more lean muscle tissue you have, the faster your metabolism will be.

the type of metabolism you are talking about is destructive metabolism. When you get technical, it basically means your body breaking down substances in order to create energy or waste. When you work out, your body needs extra energy to do the work demanded, so that rate of destructive metabolism goes up in order to supply that energy your body is lacking.
In a nutshell- it increases, quickly, for however long your body needs it to

your metabolism doesnt change its speed by exercising its by how much you eat if you eat verry litttle then ur motabolism slows but hen you do eat good it will be easier to gain and i you eat alot to keep it fast you have to exercise.

After exercising for a while your metabolism gets faster but you would have to keep exercising to keep it up

  • ?Pickles:

    it raises by about 85%
and can stay that way for a whole 24 hours depending on the exercise you do!!!!!
