I’ve read that consuming too few calories when exercising and dieting can disrupt or slow metabolism and winding being counter productive in terms of weight loss. If, then, I know the calories a person my weight, age, and build burns in day to day living, how far below that caloric intake is it both safe and effective for me to target my diet?

they say never go under 1200 cals per day no matter who you are..try looking up calorie counter on google and it will find a chart that will give you the recommended cals per day for your hight, weight and activity leavle.
Have you ever considered weight watchers? They take your weight, sex and a few other things into consideration and then calculate how many “points” you should be eating in a day. Instead of counting calories, you count points, which is much easier. If you are serious about losing weight, you may way to to try it. I did weight watchers and lost 77 lbs in less than a year. I felt like I was ALWAYS eating, but when I actually counted my calories, I realized that I was only eating 1200 calories a day, but because I was making healthy choices, I was eating way more, and losing weight. I never attended weight watchers meetings; I did it all online only. It was amazing. I’m pregnant now, but as soon as I have the baby, I’m going right back on. Good luck!
