Can Ingesting Too Much Sodium Inhibit Fat Loss? Or Would You Simply Retain Water Weight?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

It depends upon the person. If you are a normal healthy person it would do both. However if for instance you had had a panprocolectomy, that is exactly what you would be seeking to do. I was reading somewhere recently that when people pass away, they do so from thirst. A balance of salt allows your cells to retain enough fluid in order to replicate themselves, and thus keep us alive. So this is my somewhat circumlocuitous way of saying you must balance your salt with your fluid uptake.

  • Too much sodium can increase weight gain by slowing your metabolism. An excess of sodium impedes the health of muscle growth by making the cells in the body “sluggish.” You would retain water (the bad kind as well) and put pressure on your kidneys. By overworking your kidneys, they will not do the job of expelling toxins from the body properly. That excess waste is left to fester in the body and destroy (weaken) more cells.

  • Talkstre:

Sodium dehydrates the body, which causes it to store water just in case it doesn’t get any more anytime soon. So, eating lots of sodium could cause water weight IF, you’re not drinking enough water daily.

I would retain water weight best.
