Can Someone Please Tell Me What’s Bad About Drinking Diet Soda?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

I love drinking a fountain diet pepsi every day, but I’ve heard so many different arguments about how diet soft drinks are just as bad, if not worse, than regular sodas for your body. Does anyone know the SPECIFIC reasons it’s bad for me to be drinking it every day? If I heard enough evidence I’d try hard to give it up, but I just can’t yet because I love it too much! Thanks.

One school of thought says that when you drink the sweet stuff, your body responds by raising the insulin level and stops burning fat, in anticipation of getting some sugar. The insulin causes you to become hypoglycemic because you aren’t really getting any sugar, so you end up craving candy bars and other sweets.
The acidity of diet soda is still bad for your teeth.
Many artificial sweeteners have been thought to contribute to cancer.
Aspartame (NutraSweet) contains phenylaline, an amino acid. If this stuff builds up faster than you can break it down, it’s bad for your brain. In fact, a buildup of phenylaline due to congenital abnormality contributes to retardation in children. So some people think of diet soda itself as a toxic substance for this reason.
I don’t know how true this stuff is. What I do know is that any time I drink any soda with aspartame in it, I get a headache and body pains fora day and a half so badly that all I can do is cry, and no pain killer takes it away.

the thing thats bad with drinking diet soda is, because of the artificial sweeteners that is in it. such as splenda and aspartame.
splenda was actually on the news not too long ago and they were saying that it can cause skin problems in people, and it can also give you a heart attack. i dont know about you, but i am staying far away from that stuff. not all diet cokes have splenda tho, but they contain different artificial sweeteners.
and no matter what pop you are drinking, it is bad for you if your going to be drinking it alot every day. maybe one pop a day would be okay but too much can rot your teeth, and can also give you some health problems possably.

i don’t know, but it gives me nausea!

It is not bad to drink that. But everyday is not good for your health even though it’s diet

They jury is still out on the connection between aritifical sweeteners and cancer. But it is possible that the sweeteners in diet soda cause cancer. Since your asking about diet not regular sugar isn’t an issue as there usually is 0 sugar in diet drinks. Drinking any type of soda everyday isn’t very good for you. The acid eats the enamel in your teeth and in extreme cases you can get an ulcer. I say switch to tea or mineral water. If you crave a carbonated beverage every once in a while tonic water with lime in it is better for you than commercially prepare sodas. (this is good to wean you off other sodas)

The acid in soda (diet or regular) erodes the teeth.
The more soda you drink, the less water you drink.

The main concern with diet sodas is the process chemicals that are used in the blend. Grant it the sugar and caffeine are not in diet soda like in regular soda but these chemicals in diet soda have tested positive (in mice, rats & rabbits) to cause various medical and health conditions when consumed on a regular basis. I have personally stopped drinking soda all together for health reasons and I have replaced it with flavored bottle water. As far as for the energy I now drink a newly released energy drink 2 times a day (8am & Noon). It is the first energy drink to hit the market in powder form so you can mix up up with any beverage no matter where you are at. It comes in ez 2 carry packets that fit right in your pocket / purse. I use flavored bottle water to mix mine. Just pour it in, shake it up and you have an awesome and extreme energy drink. There are two arguments.
They are still really bad for your teeth eliminating the sugar isn’t enough. All the acids in them still wear away at your teeth.
There is some evidence, though I’m not sure how much, that tasting sweet things can cause your insulin level to rise ( the hormone for breaking regulating blood sugar). The raise in insulin lowers your blood sugar and this causes you to feel hungrier than you actually are. Then you over eat to address this hunger. Once again I’m not sure that this has been proven, but I’ve heard it hypothesized.
