Fat Loss And Muscle Gain?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

OK, so I want to lose fat and sometime have a good muscular body. I want to do HIIT and lift weights. I heard you get better results if you focus on one goal at a time rather than two. How long should I focus on each area (fat loss and muscle gain) Should I go one week cardio, one week weights. Or two weeks, four weeks? Or should I do cardio MWF and weightlift TTS?
