How Can I Get Good Daily Exercise By Taking The Stairs?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

I just moved to the 20th floor of an apartment building, and I’m hoping I can use the stairs to get more exercise, because the gym isn’t an option for me.
When I take the stairs from the basement to the 20th floor (at a moderate pace), I’m breathing hard but not gasping; I can feel my heartbeat when I put a hand to my chest; my calves and thighs are tingly, but that goes away after 5-10 minutes, and I’m not sore the next day.
How can I use the stairs to get more fit? Should I go gradually faster? Any tips?

Start on the ground level and try running – or a fast pace. See how far you can go. When you feel like you cant go anymore, you can rest for a minute or two and walk up or try running a little more. If you cant make it all the way up to the 20th floor in one try, no worries. You should notice vast improvements in a few weeks. After you can go all the way up at a fast pace, go back down as well, then add another up. Go harder and longer (up and down). Or you can run up, walk down, run up…use varity because your body will condition itself and it wont do much more after a week or two. So change pace and how long you go for.

well it’s not a really good exercise but at least it’s some exercise…

  • attitude:

Your hard-breathing shouldn’t last longer than 5-10 minutes. You are getting great exercise by what you’re already doing.
