By Diet | Sep 6, 2009

It depends. It could be good for fat loss and for muscle gain. If you use whey along with other ingredients (oatmeal, peanut butter, fruits, nuts) in a meal replacement shake to replace a meal high in fats and just in calories overall, it should help you lose weight (by lowering overall calorie intake but still filling you up). This would also be a much healthier meal vs pizza, etc.
It could be good for muscle growth as the raw material to rebuild/repair torn muscles (from working out). Protein is the basic building block of muscles so you need lots of it in the form of whey, casein, meats (chicken, tuna, beef, etc), veggies, etc.
Too much protein will not turn into fat, too many overall calories will… calories from protein, fat, carbohydrates. Too much protein MAY give you some problems with kidneys if you overeat it, but this is typically tough to do.
