What Exercise Routines Would Be Suitable For Older People?

By Diet | Sep 5, 2009

My mom’s physical health is slowly declining, and I’ve recently resolved to exercise regularly with her. My exercise routines are too rigorous for her, as she has weak joints, specifically in her knees. She needs a decent cardio workout that isn’t too strenuous, but I haven’t had any luck finding her a suitable one that we could do every day at home. Thanks for your help!!

Hello Non sequitur – Great job helping your mom. Exercise @ her pace, encourage range of motion. Use your routines if she likes. Exercise seated, reclining or in water what is fun, least painful. Moving slowly helps work balance. Treadmill or stationary bike work cardio @ ones pace.
My fave story is about sick man in nursing home. He improves him self with exercise & life-style change. Chinese practice Bagua, Tai Chi and live healthy until age 100.

do yoga or beginers taebo…and i know this sounds lame but richard simmons tapes are great for older people. you get a good workout at a slower less vigorous pace.
