    it really depends on what position you play, if you play line then you want power, to train power think about what movements your body will go through when you play football, if youll be pushing with your legs a lot then do squats, if youll be pushing people a lot then do bench press. if you play quarterback then train your arms, abs and back mostly, if you play wide reciever like me then weightlifting whouldnt be where you push yourself the hardest, you should be worrying about your 40 yard dash, agility, and catching difficult balls but when you do whightlift you’ll want to focus on your legs and abs mostly and a bit on your arms, really the best thing you can do is join a team, your coach will tell you what to do and it will be hard but well worth it

  • Squat. Period. Squat is not the most fun or the most glorious lift, but it is the absolute best lift for ANY sport. A close second to squat would be power clean. Power clean works your legs, back, shoulders, and hips. It isn’t fun, but it makes you strong. Dead Lift is another good lift. Bench press is what I call a “beach lift”- it is only really useful for looking good at the beach. I hope this helps.

    Power clean is BY FAR the most important lift for ANY football position. It helps get you to be able to explode with huge intensity. Its a great lift especially for tackling. Its a power lift which means it gets pretty much the whole body. Check out youtube and type in power clean if you dont know how to do the lift.
