Cardiovascular activities like running and swimming, exercise your heart and lungs, but they don’t use much energy during the process. It is not what is called a calorific exercise.

Maintain your muscle mass and you will never have a problem with weight again.
As you get older you lose muscle mass, but there is no reason why you shouldn’t maintain fit, healthy muscle.
