Yeah, I’m great at skill sports but hate exercising. For example, the catcher on a baseball team needs more skills-related fitness (if he knows what he’s doing, he will have to work less physically), but a swimmer would need more raw fitness (while technique is still important, if he’s out of shape physically, he won’t win).
I think that examples of physical fitness are outlasting your competitors in a five mile race, beating the competition in a sprint, having a higher vertical leap than others, bench pressing the most weight, etc.
I think that examples of skill based fitness are throwing an effective head fake in basketball, doing things to deceive tacklers in football, batting .350 in baseball, bowling a 300 game, etc.
Physical fitness can be evident outside of a sporting competition. Skill-related fitness usually is difficult to measure unless it is tested against competition.
