protein drinks are initially for building muscles.......not for losing weight
the only foods that can help you lose weight are those that fasten your metabolism rate....these include raw veges (but not actually effective) only effective to a very very very small extent (microscopic change actually)

I think you have a misconception, in fact, Low Fat Foods or Low Calorie Diets don't work well on weight loss. You need proper diet, keep your diet a balance, you don't need to have extra protein drink.

Muscle building is one of the hardest things in the world to do but it can be one of the easiest. In order to build muscle you cannot just exercise, lift weights etc... You have to eat right and healthy and that is the key to muscle building.
You will have to eat a lot of protein to get that great amount of muscle (e.g. chicken, milk, eggs, fish). Also you should always drink water, try to substitute soda's for water instead and if you can do this then you are heading one step in the right direction.
As everyone knows muscle is half as big as the mass of fat, so every time you gain that extra pound of muscle you are reducing your body fat percentage.
If you are exercising to lose weight but end up finding out that you have actually gained weight instead. This should be taken as good news because this means that you are building muscle and you will soon look great and a whole lot slimmer.
I would recommend you this website

I am not sure what you are asking but if you are lifting weights to help with weight loss protein drinks can help.
The more muscle you build the more fat you will burn. You can also lose weight by reducing your carbohydrates.
It is all about getting balance of carbs and protein that is right for you and your metabolism.
Check out this site that I have found. It can help you a lot in your weight loss http://zapthefat.blogspot.com
Good luck
