Over weight and obesity has become one of the top health problems in America today and has been classified as an epidemic. A healthy weight loss plan is recommended for anyone who is obese and under the care of a health professional or doctor.

Reasons People are Fat:

Studies have shown that consuming calories has much to do with what makes people fat. Due to junk food cafes, processed foods and sodas which are high in fat and calories is a contributing factor to people being fat. Society is addicted to these processed foods.

Some people are fat due to medical or genetically inherited disorders with a tendency to become overweight.

In my opinion, people are fat mainly due to lifestyle; convinced by mindless TV ads that promote eating junk food or highly processed foods. Society is geared and prepared to be obese from birth. Everyone needs to seriously change their lifestyle because it is really a matter of life and death. I am talking about the lifestyle of consuming mainly processed food and no physical activity or exercising. Most people refuse to walk and will use up large amounts of gas driving around to find a parking space close to a store rather than walk.

Here are some tips for seriously overweight individuals:

• Reading the labels on all packaged products is important information for your quest to lose weight. You should want to know what you are consuming in order to know if what you are taking is good or bad for you.

• Try to plan your meals in advance and do not shop for food when you are hungry. Make a shopping list and don’t change it; you will save money and avoid impulse ready-to-eat junk food that is high in fat and sugar.

• When you drink water, it makes you feel full and eliminates the craving to eat junk food or heavily processed food snacks.

Another important part of losing weight in a healthy way is to exercise for at least 30 minutes daily. Exercise combined with a nutritious diet of whole grain foods and fresh fruits and vegetables is a winner for losing weight and staying healthy and fit.

Why is it Important to Avoid Becoming Obese?

Recent studies by experts suggest that more than 40 percent of the population in the United States are seriously overweight or obese. It is well known that overweight people have an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and other serious illnesses. Losing weight will significantly reduce that risk. Also, overweight people have physical problems and a worse social life than others because of their weight. Healthy weight loss is the best option when trying to lose weight if you are obese or seriously overweight.

We know, but seem to ignore the fact that traditional foods have kept us healthy for many centuries. Knowing this should make you aware that what worked then will work now. Weight loss and all around good health was not a serious problem until we stopped our natural, healthy ways of eating and living.
