I used to be a jogger. But due to losses in my personal life I let myself go and gained alot of weight. My back hurts sometimes when I walk. Is there any type of exercise program I could implement?

    If you are having back problems you should really clear things with a doctor, but swimming, walking, or the elliptical are good low impact workouts.

    Do you know why your back hurts – what the underlying cause is? It could be just lack of strength, and if you start with a walking program slowly, you might be able to work through your back problem. Start slowly – a leisurely pace, for not a very far distance. See how your back does – you might find you can add a little more distance each week, and pick up the pace of your walk too. Back problems are sometimes linked to being overweight and weak abdominal muscles too – so this could be a step in the right direction! (Pun intended – sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

    anything low, very low impact is best. Swimming is the best thing, you get all the workout. Cardo, toning, with no impact to your back or other joints. You will never lose weight if you don’t burn more than you take in. exercise isn’t enough, what you eat and how much you eat is so important. Trust me I know I have had this fight all my life.
