You should try to exercise at a moderate level for at least 60 minutes most days of the week. In addition to being active everyday, it is recommended that you spend 20 to 30 minutes of your exercise time doing vigorous aerobic activity at least 3 times a week. Starting slow and building up to this is just fine. Every little bit counts when you’re just beginning, so take time for a short walk or bike ride a few times during the day. It is important to pay attention to how your body feels, such as getting really tired, out of breath or being too sore the next day. If you are unsure, ask your health care provider, coach, or physical education teacher. Always, drink water before, during and after exercise.

The term “in shape” is very vague. Do you want to build muscular strength, cardio, lose weight, etc?
I personally don’t like team sports or any exercise involving other people.
This is what I am doing this summer. I have a treadmill in the BASEMENT where it is nice and cool and somewhat humid, so breathing is easy. I plan to run for at least 30 minutes every day, and also lift weights. Before I started lifting any weights, I could bench maybe 90 lbs, 3 sets of 5, and now I am up to 150 lbs.
Sports like soccer and basketball are alot of cardio with not too much anaerobic exercise (anaerobic e.g. lifting weights.) If you like playing a sport, but want muscular strength – espescially upper body strength – scrap the treadmill but go for weights. Either lift at a local gym or buy a basic bench and adjustable dumbbell/barbell with weight plates, around $300. You’re already on the internet, so no doubt you’ll be able to research exercises and how to do them.
    Good luck getting “in shape.”

I am 18 i remember in high school i played football for 3 years. So as for football i had to stay in shape but off seasons for months i would get lazy. So to stay in shape just workout at least 3 days a week for an hour or two running lifting maybe go to a gym or do it at home. If you wanna get in better shape you will need to work out at least 4 times a week with intence running sit ups and lifting skipping a day inbetween to heal so like work out monday take tuesday off.

  • 4 times a week. Doesnt matter on which days you work out. 30-45 minutes. Good Luck dude. I’m doing the same thing. Improving on my running and strength. You can do it! quote and unquote from 50 1st Date and that football movie with Adam Sandler lol. I recommend it to you because of your age. 14-17 yrs. Keep it basic and simple.

everyday man, like just normal sports like soccer, hockey, baseball, football anything that is requiring you to move and run, or even if your going to school, walk instead of taking a bus (if you do)
