I know that drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine, and even legal rx drugs like adderall and ritalin cause weight loss because they are stimulants and suppress appetite. Well, caffeine is a stimulant, and I notice that after a few shots of espresso I am not very hungry. Can high does of caffeine have a weight loss effect? If so, how much must one take?

I think you should be very careful thinking that all central nervous system stimulants have the same side effects. This is an extract from the RxList entry on caffeine:
“In doses of 100-200 mg. caffeine can increase alertness, relieve drowsiness and improve thinking. At doses of 250-700 mg/day, caffeine can cause anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, hypertension, and insomnia. Caffeine is a diuretic and increases urination. It can curiously enough make it more difficult to lose weight because it stimulates insulin secretion, which reduces serum glucose, which increases hunger.”
You might also find that the weight loss benefits of CNS like dextro-amphetamine and others is relatively short lived, and does not lead to permanent weight loss.
Please, take care.
It does have a weight loss effect, because your body burns more calories throughout the day. Use something safe though… caffeine kills your nerves over time. My trainer recommended 8 hour energy (NOT 5 hour), and I’ve lost around 21 lbs in 2.5 months – that’s CRAZY for my bodytype. It’s also really cheap
I drink a fairly large amount of Diet coke daily, it might surpress my appetite…but the side effects i suffer are a pain in the a##..sleepness, jittery, headaches…etc…Certainly, don’t take caffeine to lose weight..it speeds your HR, etc….
