Is Fitness Vitamin Water Safe To Drink During Pregnancy?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

I’ve heard that overloading on vitamins can be bad for you. I’m already taking a prenatal vitamin with a DHA supplement as well. I love the flavored fitness water like Propel with Calcium, but is this extra dose of vitamins good or bad for my baby?

I just talked to my OB a couple of days ago concerning what I can or cannot drink (I’m 20 weeks). I never mentioned Propel specifically, but she said everything is pretty safe in moderation (except the obvious: drugs, alcohol, etc.). Your body will only absorb as much calcium as it needs in a serving (500 mg); anything over 500 is excreted. But, you do need to be careful with the vitamins that your body hangs on to (fat soluable versus water soluable), because this can cause a problem. Just run it by your doc…you should be fine!

yeah i think drinking a bottle of that will be fine, but it is true you can take too many vitamins during pregnancy, especially too much viatmin a can be bad for you…..as far as calcium, thats fine!!

Yes! When I was pregnant I always drank Propell because I have to drink something with a taste other than plain water. We are now trying for our third and last baby and instead of mountain dew I have opted to propell again.

From everything I’ve read and learned from my OB, you should be careful when supplementing vitamins. There are many vitamins that if taken in too great of quantities can be harmful to the baby. Extra calcium is probably not a huge concern, but I would ask your doctor about it just in case. Your doctor will most likely tell you that the best sources for vitamins come from food. However, what you are drinking could very well be ok, so ask your doc, and then you can have peace of mind that whatever you are doing is good for the baby.
