From running laps around the lounge room to climbing trees, every cat has a favourite (and sometime unorthodox) active pursuit. How does your cat get her exercise?

My cat will go outside and pounce on ants and little holes and sometimes imaginary bugs. He thinks he is a tiger!!!! he is so adorable.
I’ll also race him up and down the hall!!! he loves that
I will also play with him like i wrestle with him and he fights back and then we play with his toys and string!!!!
he loves to muck around with me.
Also he will hide behind something or under something and when you walk past he’ll jump out and grab your leg then he’ll look at you and run off.
I love to play with him he is so adorable!!!!
Hope i helped=]
He shoots outside and runs full tilt up the trees we have to the height of about 10 or 15 feet, down then streaks to the next tree, shoots up, runs down and progresses down the line of trees we have till he has had enough. He then goes on to exercise his mind, by stalking mice in the vegetation catches one and brings it into the house making a silly mewling sound to announce he has a catch. This is followed by Daddy dispatching the said mouse, the cat then settling down to some serious leg licking and grooming in general. That’s our Dinks for you.
Cheers
Lisa
During the day when my cat is outside, she skips around the yard, pouncing on imaginary bugs and creeping through the grass as though she’s a wild tiger. You’d think that would tire her out but sometimes it doesn’t. In the evening, sometimes she gets this thing where she runs up and down the stairs as though someone is pursuing her. It’s hilarious, she gets this crazed look in her eyes. Then she’ll just get over it, wander over to the couch and fall asleep on someone’s lap. She’s a crazy little critter.
My female cat;
Poppy, has her “senior” moments, very funny to watch, where she finds some imaginary object of interest and chases it around for ages. She also loves it when you put your foot under the cover and move it around, so that she pounces on it.
My male cat;
Domino, loves to be outside (in the UK) and chases leaves, he’s getting old, but doesn’t know it, he also loves catching mice and birds unfortunatly. He’s also very funny to watch when he’s in the middle of “hunting” a bird on the fence and falls off.
Jess.
Pippa ( my cat) loves to just pretend that she’s a huge tiger going to get our pet rabbit, or a butterfly…. Pippa also loves chasing string but will usually outsmart you and just run through the kitchen table not going right around it. She also loves balls of foil and will play with for ages. It is really cute to watch her as she waits for someone to the the ball to her and then she’ll jump up in the air really high as if her life depends jumping on that ball……! Whenever she is about to pounce or chase something her eyes glitter really brightly and she looks super cute but ever so cheeky….
I love her very much.
Thinking about it, then deciding it’s too much like hard work!
Seriously, my cat seems to get heaps of exercise being chased around by swooping birds, then one of the birds is stupid enough to get in range of the cat and “WHAM!!” she’s got it!
But her favourite exercise seems to be meowing her head off in the kitchen to get me to feed her — she has realised that I’ve worked out that she can’t meow with her mouth full!!
my cats do a little bit of all of the above!! they’re soo cute, and fit! they are like little acrobatic ninjas!! they love chasing butterflys, running just for the sake of running, pouncing, jumping, hunting things, hunting nothing, also a scrunched up bit of aluminium foil on some tiles is the most fun a cat could ever imagine… except for of course a cardboard box with some holes cut in it!!
kudos to all of you who love cats and all of the wonderful animals of the world!
He is an inside cat and loves running up and down the hallway. He then will jump and run across our bed to get into the windowsill. He pounces and jumps at the window to get the moths on the outside. He loves bouncy balls, chases them around and gives them back to us to throw again. We have a piece of cord he loves, if it goes over his back he spins around in circles chasing it.
After a good dose of catnip they climb on walls, jump on the house, climb the screen upside down and hope not to fall into the pool. One becomes highly wild and runs around like a toddler the other hides and jumps off of the sofa, fans, and freezers as soon as a person is near and ready to turn on a light this scares the juice out of all children and adults. They both attack the feet in a playful manner no scratches only paw them despite that they have claws. Over all they are highly playful in a house fill with children.
my cat
I found as a kitten in the railway yards in alice springs
he was ginger an spripped like a tigger
I called him meggsie after ginger meggs
he would rubb up against your head on the lounge as you ate a sandwinch,if you didnt give him one, he would jump down a steel one for himself an run away, he would cross the road an chase two bull terriers around the yard it was funny.
he was a big ferral cat that i bought up as a kitten an he loved it when you chase him around the house, his favoute drink was straight spirts then he would just slept all day, it was the best way to keep him quiet an out of trouble
hahah my indoor cat almost never gets exercise, but sometimes i try to play with him with string but after a while he quits…he’s really lazy and *HUGE*…:( pretty much the exercise he gets is chasing around my other indoor cat Chloe.
my outdoor car Buddy likes to try to follow me or my sister when we go on walks, but not on a leash she just walks with u s, and she loves chasing grasshoppers its so cute. She also plays with rocks, she hits them around with her paws
My cat, Jacob, spends the entire day running up my flight of stairs, jumping on the toilet (Which is at the top of the stairs), then jumping on the sink, turning around on the sink and going back down the same route. He never stops, except to sleep and maybe eat. He’s 12 years old and has been doing this since he was small. Skinniest cat you ever saw. Vet says he’s perfectly fine. So he drives me and his 8 brothers and sisters nuts.
well at 13 about the only exercise she chooses to do is the jump from the floor to the bed where she sleeps all day and then down again to eat her tea and back up to sleep again lol. Exercise she gets occasionally is not a favourite and that would be running from the dog . (dog would not hurt her just thinks it is playing with her)
My old cat, Pjevs is dead now, but when she was alive her favorite way to excersise, was running around being all rotten in the head, and she’d mostly run ON the walls for several seconds, and then chase our feet. Or she’d climb the highest thing in the room. For her , the higher, the better. Too bad she died. She was lovely (:
She likes running laps through the lounge room, kitchen, laundry and runs upstairs and back down again. Once she had a plastic bag trapped on her behind so it looked like a parachute and at the same time she was doing laps but in the end she succeeded in taking the bag off.
walking from bed room to the what ever room we maybe in where he then does some arm streches to get our attention that it is time to be fed. Then he into the kitchen takes his position by the microwave once he see that his food is ready will walk into the bed room jump up on the desk and wait for his food. He is 9 years old we dont expect him to overally active.
Bringing my young cat outdoors. The weeping willow tree is like his cat post with leaves, and when afternoon prevails, he will then chase after chirping crickets with curiosity.
Then again, there are a ton of ways my cat can find amusement and exercise.
My little Burmilla Boys are indoor babies. They chase each other around. Run up and down the scratching pole, love to play with a ping-pong ball in the bath tub (no water of course) and just adore a piece of string!!! I have bought endless kitty toys and the best they love is simple homemade bits and pieces.
My cat seems to have one hour everyday where he just runs from each room back and forth like crazy. Every so often he’ll jump from the floor to a chair back to the floor and so. Recently he started playing it a squeaky soccer ball toy I bought for our puppy also.
He loves to play with those plastic easter eggs. He will run around the house for hours chasing those things. Sometimes, I will stick double sided taped on the top of on of his paws. He will run like crazy acting like he hates it, then once he gets it off he will try to put it back on for fun. he is crazy…. but I love him.
My siamese gets his exercise by playing with a hair tie. Shh… don’t tell. He doesn’t want anyone to know. He hides when he sees someone coming.
My maine coon mix gets his exercise by going on walks, chasing the fish in the fishtank, and playing fetch with a big purple fluff ball or his stuffed turtle on a stick.
My cats are NOT over-weighted but are pretty chubby. And they are only like that because they don’t exercise AT ALL. I mean Cheese – the black and white male – is more sleek, he likes to climb the curtains from time to time – but with Cupcake – the ginger girl – it’s all over. Eat, sleep, eat, sleep, poop in my bed, sleep…
Here is a photo of them both cuddling in the sofa before getting into a cat fight and killing each other (they are both neuteredspay otherwise they had already had hundreds of kittens lol) http://farm1.static.flickr.com/64/203228…
paste it in the sidebar. Please?
well, your cat gets exercise when she/he does that stuff. if your cat was lazy and hardly ever stopped laying around she/he would not get any excercise at all. to find what your cat’s favorite exercise you have to see which one she/he wants to do the most.
Well first of all my cat name is friday. I call him that because he is a black cat. Any way, my cat gets his exercise by chasing my brothers friend’s cat. obviously my cats a runner. But how a cat gets its exercise sometimes depends on the breed.
I have two cats and they love to play fight. One cat is 6 the other is 2, the older one loves to be chased so she will start a fight just to be chased. The younger one loves chasing mice butter flies moths lizards. They both love to curl up and sleep together they are best friends
My bobtail kitten, Oscar loves running around, wrestling and jumping on things to climb. He’s a little over 6 weeks and full of new energy he’s putting into discovering all the new things he can do.
the only way my cat exercises is he runs to get food, thats why he weighs 7 kilos (15 pounds)
his not really overweight his a huge cat, the vet said his weight is ok, just dont let him put more on.
here is a link to his pic:http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u122/…
Ok well my cat passed away a few years ago but his favorite way to exercise was to chase me with a string up and down the hallway or up and down the stairs. Mainly his exercise was playing with his cat friends out side or playing with his string
Hope I helped!
My cat loves running around the house with his toy mouse, then running up and down the stairs with it in his mouth.
When his outside, the cat from next door comes over the fence and they chase each other around and play hide and seek.
My little kitty likes to sneak up on people and jump up on them. He spreads his arms and legs like a flying squirrel and he clamps his claws into our jeans….then runs away.
It’s absolutely adorable because he runs in front of us, and hides (only his head) and BAM, he jumps.
Cutie. =D
During the day she sleeps.
In the evening she starts to go a bit crazy and run around hectically and pounce of random things.
And at night she goes outside and runs around on our roof, and the nieghbours roof. I’m pretty sure she hunts little bugs too
