How Can I Get Constipation Relief When On A Low Calorie Diet?

I’m on a low calorie diet, and I frequently deal with constipation issues. I only have a bowel movement 2 or 3 times a week. I eat plenty of fiber, exercise, and drink water. What else can i do to make my digestive system more regular?

    If you’re eating fiber and drinking lots of water and you’re still getting no bowel movement daily, you may want to eat the fiber in the form of fruit exclusively and in the morning. Apples, pears, and dried prunes. But you should not take large amounts of fiber suddenly, it can actually constipate you.
    Start small and build up your fiber intake. Give it a few days. If the fruit still isn’t working, you can be fairly certain you are taking in too few calories and your body is fighting back.
    Use a calorie calculator like the BMR & RMR calculator at http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_bur…
    Its calculations are very accurate. It will keep you from eating too much, or too little, to shed the pounds.

    Fiber and water seems to be the answer in my book, under Constipation.
    They say,”fiber-rich foods, including bran cereals, whole grans, raw fruits and vegetables”
    All the answers above seem to on the money.
    It could be your low calorie diet.
    There is a site that offers a free ebook on dieting. They also have a great newsletter that now and then has stuff you may not find any other place.

    One other thing. You may have to get off your diet. Try it and see what happens.

    Try 6 oz of warm prune juice 1 1/2 hr. before eating anything in the morning. Then eat and you will be pleasantly surprised. You can drink it every day as it’s full of nutrients as well and good for keeping you going well.

    you may just not have to go. the less you eat the less you will go to the bathroom. so i think you’re fine. but if you are uncomfortable, just take a laxative.
