No. Another myth. And diet pills are worthless, too. Just another scam to get your money. Even “ALLI.” Over 6 months, Alli will help you to lose an extra 5 lbs. 5 lbs???? That’s all. Do you know how much it costs to be on Alli for 6 months? The average is $50 for the starter kit and then $30 a month. That’s $200. For 5 lbs. What a scam.
Believe me, you want a guaranteed way to lose weight?
Eat better, eat smaller portions and exercise.
I read a article in readers digest about a research done that showed that increased calcium intake lead to higer fat loss and muscle gains. It may be of coincidence that some foods that contain protein also contain calcium. Some food like milk, cheese and yogurts.
The reseach done had 2 groups of people reduce diet and exercise. One group went low carb while the other reduced the total calorie in the diet but ate more calcium rich foods in teh diet compared to the other group. The finding showed the grup with more calcim based foods lost more fat and gain more mucles then the other group. It is said that calcium acts as a messengser to the fat cells to stop storing fat.
Also another research showed that taking calcium supplements like pills do not have the same effect as takign foods rich in calcium. So i figure its also due to the conbimation of protien and other nutrients in those foods. So if you want to experiment yourself I suggest you reduce you calories from other food sources like carbs and take more servings of foods like low fat milk, cheese(reduced fat) and yogurt(low fat)…
Good Luck

Calcium helps, but it’s not the be-all-end-all. If you want to lose weight your diet and exercise regimen both need to be in order. And yes, you MUST have both to lose weight, keep it off, and maintain your weight within 5-10 pounds of your ideal, whatever that may be for your height and body frame. It’s just like the ads for the diet pills — if you read closely, you’ll see that the people who lost all that weight were also on a strict regimen of diet and exercise when they took the pills. So don’t look at calcium supplements as a magic cure. As a matter of fact, you’re better off getting your calcium from your food than you are from a pill, so you’d be better off eating more low-fat or non-fat dairy products.
