What Temperature Should I Keep My Fitness Center?
![]() |
I keep it at 72 during the coldest winter months. 70 during the spring and drop it no lower than 66 during the summer. My members want it turned down to 60, I think that is way too cold. Aren’t you supposed to sweat in the gym?

You are supposed to be all for the people. So go with the customer!
the gym i used to go to… during the summer would keep it around 66 n on super super nasty hot days thay would lower it to 64!! its ur gym u put it at whatever u want it
I would think you would keep the gym the same temp year round. They do where I have gone for years. If cold, you dont feel like exercising nor too hot. Having the same temp means you know what clothing to wear inside. 72 sounds like a great temp.
Sweating is part of the body’s natural way of cooling itself down, vital when exercising. You may want to google and find out recommendations on temp settings or call/email a large facility that could advise us. Try http://www.lvac.com for las vegas athletics clubs or something in your area
I’d say you need to adjust it to the number of people in the gym- more people working harder = a very stuffy and uncomfortable work out environment.
Yeah, keep it at 66 as the low. Those babies should sweat and stop worrying about ruining their hair or getting sweaty!
IF THE MEMBERS ARE WORKING OUT HARD THEY ARE GOING TO BE SWEATING EVEN IF IT IS 60 IN THERE. I THINK YOUR TEMPS ARE REASONABLE AND YOUR CUSTOMERS NEED TO CONSIDER THAT THE EMPLOYEES THERE ARE NOT WORKING OUT AND THEY DONT WANT TO FREEZE TO DEATH
