Which Is More Important For Weight Loss?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

When working towards an over all weight loss goal, is it more important to focus on cardio or strength training? I know it’s best to incorporate both into a fitness program. But should I do less cardio with more attention to weights? Or a longer cardio session followed by a short session of weights?

  • Mr. King:

The most important factor for losing weight is always your Diet. but to answer your question, They are both important, they are complementary to each other. As you know the more muscle you have the more calories you burn and the faster your metabolism becomes(for the majority of people). so if your trying to lose weight i would suggest focusing your time on first building muscle, so by the time you start focusing more on cardio you will burn more calories due to the increase in muscle. the deficit of calories you create will result in weight lose. Now remember when you do weight training, if you do it right, you might gain some weight because of the muscle your building, But your body fat will drop and so in this case gaining like a pound is not bad at all because in the long run when you start hitting your cardio session the fat will melt away.

Cardio is the main thing to focus on while trying to lose weight. For example a 20 mins lifting session can burn 200 calories while 20 min cardio would burn 400. It causes your heart to work harder and burn more calories through your session.
