someone once told me that growing plants with diet coke instead of water actually works better. is this true? if so, does it only work with some plants or all? please dont be sarcastic, this is for a school project.

I did try this when I was young and it really was surprising to find it works. actually, the softdrink contains water for the plants and the carbon dioxide evaporates which could be absorbed by the plant as well. the sugar and other good stuff in the cola stays in the soil. later, the ants and other insects will be attracted to the scent of sugar, and this seems good as well for the soil.

At my grade school, there was a kid who did this experiment every year. It’s been a while, but I believe that none of the beverages he used worked as well as water.
Beer, I remember was a close second to water, and milk usually killed them. I don’t think sodas fared very well in general.
I would not think so, but I think I will pass on that experiment
Just do the experiment and find out once and for all, is it true or just another “urban legend”, it’s cheap, its easy and maybe even a little FUN! RScott
