Sounds like your abs are ok but you want to get rid of the thin layer of fat and get ripped.
Interval training has been shown to improve fat loss over longer bouts of low to medium intensity cardio. The reason is that long bouts of low to medium intensity cardio reduces muscle mass, while interval training increases muscle mass. The increased muscle mass will cause higher calorie burn throughout the day. So, it is efficient to do 20 minutes of interval training 3 days a week (say 60 or 90 seconds alternating between intense and slow).
I think you need to focus on whole body exercises like squats, pushups, pullups, deadlift, benchpress, barbell squats, etc.
Here is a site with lots of tips. They also review all the major fitness programs, have a recommendation or 2 for getting ripped.

Good luck.
an important thing is to make sure you eat some breakfast, and to not starve yourself or try to make yourself really hungry. if you do that your body stores fat as a reserve.
when you are cold it boosts your metabolism too. that doesnt mean going out in the snow all the time, but doing things like drinking cold water instead of room temp. and swimming in cold water is great for it too.
i hope my tips help to some degree
