Has Anyone Experienced Weight Loss With The Use Of Vyvanse For Adhd? If So How Much Have You Lost?

By Diet | Dec 28, 2009

Im a 30 yr old woman that has had trouble concentrating and to do well at school or work always took my time or redid them to do things right. But I was diagnosed with ADHD and am on vyvanse and want to know how others have reacted to it. Especially with weight loss. How its affected you with that and your irritability. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I’m 16 and on 40mg of Vyvanse. I actually went from 130 to 113 in about a month, month and a half maybe. I didn’t even notice that it was happening, but my family and friends started freaking out. My weight is a little more stable now.
I’m also on another med that I had to start taking with my Vyvanse for anti-anxiety. Some people say they get depressed or angry on Vyvanse, but I just started having anxiety attacks all the time.
One of the other weird things I’ve noticed is that when I take my meds, I need to be chewing or biting down on something at all times. Strange that that’s one of the side effects if I was also losing weight, huh? But now I am constantly grinding my teeth and biting my tongue or the insides of my cheeks. No one warned me about this side effect, so I’d rather tell someone so they’re not confused.
Other than this, Vyvanse has been great!! I can pay attention in class, and in church, and anywhere else that I need to concentrate! It’s a miracle!! :)
Good luck with the Vyvanse, and good for you that you got diagnosed. :) ) It makes life easier for us, doesn’t it?

What is the active ingredient in Vyvanse? Is it part of the stimulant class of ADHD medications? I have been on stimulants for ADHD (Concerta and Ritalin) since November and have lost fifteen pounds since then. I’m sure that sounds like a great side-effect to most people, but I’m almost to the point of being underweight and my doctor has been giving me all kinds of stern lectures about eating more. It’s definitely something to watch out for.

    im 20 and on vyvanse.
I really like it. its worked the best for me. Weight loss was definitely a problem tho. I lost 8 lbs the first month. that got me at 93 lbs…I told my dr and he prescribed me a pill that makes me gain weight and its working. So talk to your dr about that if your worried about the losing weight cuz it definitely wil. Hope I helped:]

I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.
Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

I’ve been on Vyvanse for a about a year now. In regards to weight loss, it can literally destroy your appetite when your getting used to it. Which is awesome, if you want to lose muscle too. I went from 165 to 140 in about two months. My family thought I was abusing heroin or some other outlandish conclusion. The key with Vyvanse is to make sure your protein intake is good while your on it. Otherwise you’ll lose some real body mass. 1g per lb a day, cardio and weight lifting while watching your blood pressure along with Vyvanse will put you in the greatest shape of your life once you get the hang of things.
