When i was body building I would smoke before working out and I would be able to bench more because it was easier to psych myself out and get amped. On top of that, I smoked afterward to get an appetite and ate a bunch which helped me gain more weight. When I was at my biggest I was smoking a little bit before working out and a little bit afterward. Great for relaxing your muscles afterward.
Thinking back to my high-school days, which were in the 70′s, I don’t remember any jocks that were also stoners. There was that Canadian snowboarder who tested positive for marijuana after he got an Olympic medal.
I don’t think it could help on the whole. People who smoke a lot of dope tend to become un-motivated for other things. And unhealthy eating when the munchies hit probably wouldn’t do much good. It does relax a person, and if not being able to relax is a problem, it could help that.
Overall, I don’t think it would have a measurable positive influence. Frequent long term use would probably have a negative impact on overall fitness.
I don’t think it would have any direct effect on muscle development one way or the other. That has to do with activity and diet more than anything.
Okay so for years i trained with people that smoked pot after work outs,and the only people that made gains that used it,were guys useing steroids.The fact to remember is that marijuana blocks natural path ways in the brain,to receptor sights of the muscle for reacting to the pain,for proper repair.Yes marijuana blocks pain,but with out pain your body doesnt know how to react,for enzyme release,to start the healing process.
neither. Marijuana does nothing. other than during pregnancy (which is still not an exact science) marijuana has almost no negative affects on the body.
cancer- There are no cases where marijuana has caused brown lung, emphysema, or any other kind of cancer related illness attributed to smoking cigarettes. if there were, anti-drug associations would have them all over the news and in classrooms but they dont because no such thing exists. you see cigarette smokers lungs all too often but never a bad marijuanna smokers lung.
Brain cell loss- the conclusive study that marijuana kills brain cells was released by president nixon stating that brain cell loss, brain damage and eventual death are some of the inevitable consequences of smoking pot. after seven years of questioning how this study was conducted, it was finally released. they placed gas masks on monkeys faces and pumped them full of 60 joints of marijuana in four minutes with no oxygen in between. it is a well known fact that if you cut oxygen off from the brain, you loose brain cells, get brain damage and die. brain cell loss is not a side affect of smoking pot.
i was an avid smoker this past summer. i smoked almost every day and i ran a 19.53 5k and am on the varsity swim team for my school so my answer is no for muscle development. no positives no negatives
p.s. in the history of people dying, no one has EVER died directly from smoking marijuana. you cant find ONE death from someone who smokes just marijuana.
Smoking pot has a lot to do with your motivation but has little to no effect on your how muscles development.
The key ingredient in Marijuana is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which effects your brain and gives you your high. Other than the THC it’s like smoking a natural cigarette and as far as I know there aren’t any credible studies showing negative effects on muscle development
I know people who smoke before they work out. They say it helps them zone out and focus. Just have to be careful. And they have went from fat to toned… so there are exemptions for everything. Its what you put in it. Not saying its good or should be done. Just helping by answering your question.
