Gaining muscle (bulking) requires taking in more calories than you burn and losing fat (cutting) requires burning more calories than you take in. So as you can see…they contradict themselves. This is why bodybuilders have an off-season to bulk and then they go through a cutting phase a couple months before contest season.
Honestly, the majority of the supplements are a pretty big waste of money. The stuff that really does allow you to build muscle and lose fat at the same time is not legal (anabolic steroids) so i wouldn’t mess with supplements. Just stick to a good workout and a clean diet and you will get much better and longer lasting results (if you want to do things naturally).
Another thing…don’t be another one of those people that think “Well Jay Cutler uses muscle tech products so they must be good”. Professional bodybuilders have endorsement deals with supplement companies in order to make money. The stuff they actually use are not things you get a hold of at GNC or whatever. Yea genetics play a huge role…but in their case it’s bad *** genetics combined with special drugs (anabolic steroids, HGH, etc.) to build the huge, impressive physique that you see.

I would suggest some basic supplements for you. Whey protein is a must for anybody lifting weights. Don’t purchase the cheapest you can find; you get what you pay for. Get something decent. If there’s a vitamin shoppe around you, get the Body Tech Pro 24 whey. It’s good stuff, especially if you’re on a strict budget.
Next, I suggest a cheap multivitamin such as One A Day. Just to make sure you’re getting all your nutrients and minerals. I would also recommend a creatine product. It’s perfectly safe for somebody your age, just take the recommended dosage.
