What Would Be Normal Body Fat % Loss For Someone Doing Weight Lifting And Exercise?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

When I began working out I was 5’9″ tall and 190lbs. I had not been very active for several years and was considerably overweight. I started a new regimen of eating right and working out 5 times a week. I began with cardio only for 3 months and I lost weight from 190 down to 165. I stalled at 165 and the trainer at my gym suggested weight lifting before I do cardio and adding more protein to my diet. He told me I might not lose much weight but i will lose body fat if I build lean muscle. I took his advice and started lifting weights as well as getting a body fat scale for my bathroom. I had an initial read of 24.1% body fat and after 2.5 weeks of this new routine I now read 21.9% body fat. This seems like a large drop for such a short period of time. Do I have a faulty scale or is this body fat loss possible? I have been eating really well and have kept a 5 days a week workout schedule without fail.

those scales use electrodes to measure body fat, the down side is if you drink a lot of water one day or before it will be higher. i recommend that you measure you fat% right in the morning after you take a pee. this will give you the best read. keep up the hard work!

Your trainer gave you some great advice. I would also see if your trainer/gym offers a fat assessment test (also known as the pincher test). The trainer has a machine in which he/she will pinch you in 5-7 places on your body. It is very accurate. I would compare the percentage from the fat assess. test with the percentage on your scale. If the scale is way off then you know for sure it is faulty.

that seems accurate. it sounds like your getting good advise and your dedicated to achieving your goals. fantastic. by cleaning up your diet and exercising five times a week you shouldn’t be surprised to see results. keep up the good work.
    good luck.
