You need a goal for benchmarking your performance. Think of a house being built with the help of an architect’s final design. The builders can look at the architect’s design if they are heading towards the wrong direction.
Similarly, personal fitness goals are like an architect’s final design.
Without the goals you may not know where you are heading. For example, your personal fitness goal may be to join a 20km marathon, so you need to be able to run/jog 20km.
You can set the goal, and create a plan of running 2km, then 3km, 5km… until you are able to run/jog 20km.
“why is it important to track the activities you do”
Without tracking it’s hard to determine your progress. Using the marathon example, if you keep training everyday without tracking your progress you wouldn’t know how fit you are.
“Why is it important to plan ahead in advance what activities you will do to reach your goals?”
Planning activities in advance helps you determine whether it will help you achieve your goal.
For example if you would want to increase your ability to run 20km, you will need to plan activities that help you build stamina. If you are going for a 100m sprint, then your activities would revolve around building muscles so that you can sprint faster rather than build stamina.
If you train your stamina but not your speed, then you might not be able to join the sprinting competition.
That is why it’s important to plan WHAT activities you want to carry out to achieve your goal.

because you will lose focus if you do not remind yourself of you goals, and you will cheat yourself…
if you do not set goals then there is no purpose for even working out. there is no end result..
you need that inspiration, that motivation to keep pushing yourself with any half stepping involved. you will feel much more accomplished..
its a strong mental game you play with yourself…

goals are motivating and also you can track your progress against projections of how you thought you would do.
i’ve notice that my progress has stalled since i haven’t set any goals.
i do what i want to do instead of what i should be doing, which is okay for now.

Goals are an object to reach. By having goals you can keep track of your status, where you are at in reaching that goal. Plus reaching a goal gives you a feeling of accomplishment.

Because you dont want to be a fatass.
If you set goals to be fit then you will be much happier in life.
