Would 5 Pounds Per Week Fat Loss Affect The Kidneys?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

With moderate exercise and the correct amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fibre in the right proportions (plus multivitamins to make up for any deficiency), I lost 5 lb. in one week. I guess most of that is fat since measurement at navel level decreased by 4 cm. But I was wondering if the by-products for such rapid burning of fat will affect the kidneys. Any information on this will be greatly appreciated. I’m 5′ 6″ male, currently weighs 160 lb (one week ago it was 165 lb). I’m trying to get down to about 135 in 8 weeks. No, it wasn’t rapid water loss; I still drink my usual 8 -8 oz water per day and not very active except for 35 min. every day of Turbulence Training.

It is impossible to burn more then 2-3 pounds of fat a week. When you first start losing weight you lose faster for the first couple weeks because you are not burning fat, you are burning (glycogen i believe) which your body can burn faster. Once you have burned up your stores of that, then your body will address fat. If you are losing 5 pounds, then at least part of that is coming from somewhere other then fat. If you have already gone through the glycogen stores, then you would be burning muscle in addition to the fat.
But also take into account your body weight does fluctuate by a few pounds every day. If you weighed yourself at the high end of a fluctuation the first day, and low end on the last day, you really may only have actually lost 2-3 pounds. Really you have to look at what your weight loss is over many weeks……you may very well lose 10-15 pounds your first 2 weeks, but your weight lose should slow after that. If you are losing more then 8-12 pounds in 4 weeks after that, then you are losing weight too fast and need to raise your calorie intake as you are burning muscle, which will actually lower your bodys ability to burn fat, and so your weight will rebound once you do resume eating more calories.
Also if you are getting the proper amount of fiber and are not used to that, you could lose a little weight as it would get your digestive system working better

During the first week you will lose about 5 lbs mainly due to loss of excess water. After that, you will average 1-3 pounds per week. Just remember that if you hit a plateau and stop losing, that just means you need to intensify your workout a little.
