Is It Okay To Break Your Diet A Little Once A Week?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

I’ve been on a diet of 1100-1300 calories. Is it okay if I go up to 1700 or 1800 calories one day out of the week?

Yes it is fine. Especially since 1100-1300 calories is a very restrictive diet (perhaps too restrictive). Just make sure that you don’t eat more than you burn if you are trying to lose weight.

First of all, you should check with your doctor to make sure that you are getting enough calories throughout the day. If so, it is ok to every once in a while indulge in something you have been craving. Be careful only to have a small portion, though. You don’t want to be going 400 – 500 calories over your diet limitations. However, if you don’t allow yourself to have a little treat every so often, you are more likely to eat a lot all at once to make up for what you have been missing.

Absolutely! You NEED to reward yourself now and then.
First, you always want to talk to your Doctor/Nutritionist to make sure you’re healthy enough for a weight-loss regimen. No one should assume that they are.
That being said, the answer is for you to simply burn more calories than you consume. You didn’t get where you are in a day, so it’s going to take some time and some HARD WORK to get to where you want to be.
Here’s some simple guidelines that WILL work, IF you commit yourself to DOING them and sticking to it.
    - Do an hour of cardio a day, 4-6 times per week.
    - Do strength training or pilates 2-3 times a week.
    - Eat 5-6 times per day, keeping your portions small.
    - Cut out as much processed carbohydrates as you can, especially sugar. No pastries, candy bars, pies or candy and watch the fruit-portions.
    - Make healthier food selections like vegetables, whole grains and beans, low-fat dairy, low fat meats, fish and skinless poultry.
    - Keep a food diary. Set mini-goals and reward yourself when you attain them.

Sure, everyone deserves to cheat a little! Just be sure you have the willpower to ONLY let yourself break once a week. If you find yourself breaking more often, you might find you have to stop alltogether.
    Good luck!

YES, I mean, the word diet is what you eat and as long as you workout and eat healthy I say it Ok.
