Talking To My Doc About Prescription Weight Loss Pills?
![]() |
I am about to go in for my yearly “check up” at the doctor. I just turned 18 and I want to talk to my doc about possibly taking weight loss pills to help me loose weight. I’m not going to go into my diet/ exercise, etc. stuff here. I just want advice on how to bring it up with my doctor.
Thanks!

If you know of any prescription diet pills or whatever, just ask your doctor straight out about it. I recently saw my doctor and mentioned something I had been thinking about and we talked a little about the condition and she then prescribed what I asked for.
We have done this twice now, on top of my other meds that she has me taking for other unrelated stuff. Doctors (and nurse practitioners; which is what I see) are pretty open to anything as long as they know about it and how it might affect you. They are simply looking out for your health.
I know they say that diet pills do not work, but you can look this up and ask ANYONE who has ever taken the diet pill called ‘Adipex” that is what I am taking now,.. but usually a doctor will not give it to you unless you are 60 pounds overweight or more, I had to literally cry to my doctor so he would give it to me. But yeah, just tell him that you have an issue with your weight and you want to get healthy and you just dont have the energy to exercise and that you’ve tried all of the diets,.. he will be glad to help you.. good luck
if u want to take pills ask your doctor Straight forwardly but i will advise you exercise and control of your food like sweets, chocolates, soft drinks and junk foods…u must calculate your calories per day and move forward because weight loss pills have many side effects also
well just be straight out with it.
say “i was thinking about taking diet pills”
not that you asked.. but im giving you my opinion anyway
they don’t really work.
and you should take as less pills as possible..
because when your old you’ll be taking enough…
