Weight Loss After Becoming A Vegetarian?

Fat Loss 4 Idiots

I told my parents that I wanted to become a vegetarian and they agreed but my mom is really concerned about the weight loss. On average, how much weight does a person lose after becoming a vegetarian?

This is a HUGE misconception. I was an omnivore and am currently vegan. As both, I have had to eat properly and exercise to lose weight. Just going vegan didn’t cause me to lose anything. Some vegetarians and vegans also find themselves gaining weight because they eat veg-friendly foods that aren’t healthy, like ice cream, potato chips, candy, sodas…you get the idea.

When I initially became a vegetarian I lost at least ten pounds, maybe a little more. But then after that have stayed at stayed at a pretty constant weight, only fluctuating a pound or two. Make sure you’re getting enough of a variety in the types of foods you are eating. It is very important that as a vegetarian you’re still getting all the vitamins you need. If you or your mom continue to have concerns you should talk to your doctor, just for further advise.

My fiancee is a vegetarian and he has actually gained weight because he use to be more active. What is important is that you have a good mix of protiens in your diet as well as carbohydrates. One of my friends did the vegetarian thing and found it very difficult to get in enough protein in her diet and went back to meat eating.

0 trust me my whole family is and they are mostly overweight, and if you feel that just increase the butter and cheese. i know that you wont lose weight unless you think being a vegetarian is all about eating salads. and if you want ill give you lots of nice dishes to make for vegetarians.

There is this simple equation: what you take in minus what you use up equals savings. This applies to your bank account, and to your weight.
If you make more money (eat) more than you spend (work), you will have more savings (weight). If you eat less than you use, you will use up that savings account. If you spend more than you make, you will also use up those savings. But not everyone does. Those that still use dairy products will keep a lot of the weight. If you eat too much, you are going to gain weight.
All the weight needs to come through one little hole in the body… your mouth. If you can keep control of how much and what goes in through there, you can keep control of the weight. It’s as simple as that.

You might lose some weight if you are overweight…it depends on how healthy you eat.
If you have a lot of pasta and use olive oil in it with cut up veggies then you might end up gaining a few pounds. If you’re like me and eat potato chips, chocolate and vegan pizza then you might step on the scale and realize you’ve gained four pounds…

Hmm well i can tell you it varies…Now I lost about 40 lbs in the year that i have been vegetarian. I think it’s because I became a lot more health conscious and when you don’t eat meat it cuts out so many unhealthy options…fast food burgers, stuff like that. thats not to say there is other unhealthy food too but i eat more vegetables and what not. and i dont excercise regularly. i need to though lol anyway good luck :)

I honestly didn’t lose hardly any weight when I went veg years ago.
Of course, I was literally stuffing myself with carbs and simple starches and that’s probably why.
I digress. As long as you eat a balanced diet, your weight should not fluctuate too much. If you start eating healthier overall, you might lose a few pounds, but you won’t waste away to nothing.

You really shoudlnt loose any weight as long a syou are eating. Many loose weight becasue they loose food options. but this shouldnt be the case. You find wonderful things to substitute for the meat. When your mom mkaes spagetti put some veggies in it. You will be using tones of beans which has plenty of protein. Really you shouldnt loose any of you are eating right.

  • Chunky Butt:

    When I WAS a vegetarian, I didn’t lose a pound.
Just because you’re a vegetarian, doesn’t necessarily mean all you eat is vegetables. A lot of times they will eat lots of pasta, bread and things like that, rarely any vegetables.

  • **VEGAN*:

it depends on how healthy you are if you are over Weight you will loose some weight
if you are healthy you probably wont loose anything
but it all depends on what you eat in the long run you can gain Weight there are fatty vegetarian foods

  • Plain Shane:

depends on how healthy your are. You may lose a few pounds just from the change but if you do it right you shouldn’t lose any weight, well unless you want to, but thats another story.

  • Tyler Burlesque:

I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 2 years now. I haven’t lost much weight. You just have to get your protein. examples: drinking milk, peanut butter, trail mix, beans.

  • Calvin G:

That really depends on the person. If you eat alot of sweets, you may end up gaining weight.

  • GAVINC:

It depends what you eat, if its fruit and veg only it will fall off you.

  • i lost 10 lbs, but don’t worry it’s a good thing!
