Weight Loss Myths Uncovered Part 2

By Diet | Jan 5, 2010

This is part 2 of the myths of weight loss found. In Part 1 of 5 I found the most common myths that revolve around weight loss and in this article I will discuss 5 more common myths that are out there preventing you from reaching your weight goals. Okay, so lets get started.

Myth # 6: Eating Rice Cakes blown is good for your diet

If you read the first part of this article, then you will see that this myth is related to myth # 3. Ifyou have not read Part 1 of this article, then I strongly suggest you do. Ok, so I had a friend who every time she went on a diet, she ate the puffed rice cakes for lunch. After doing some research on puffed rice cakes, I discovered that they are worse than eating pure sugar. They pump your blood sugar and causes your body to release insulin to lower your blood sugar. How is it bad for you? Well, this action causes your body to go into storage mode of fat and you end up storing fatrather than burn. So, you end up doing the opposite of what you want and cause more damage to your target weight loss. I told him this, and eventually bring it to reason and she stopped eating these cakes puffed rice.

Myth # 7: Certain foods like celery or cabbage Can Actually burn fat and make you lose weight

Have you ever heard people say that certain foods like celery or cabbage can help you burn fat? The first time I heard that IIt was like: "What?" This is absolutely ridiculous. There is no food that can burn more calories they contain. Now, there are certain foods that can help you increase your metabolism, but the effects are so low that you will not notice it. So if you like celery and cabbage, I'm happy for you but if you do not then do not put yourself through. It's not worth it.

Myth # 8: Being a vegetarian will help you lose weight

I will not say it's completely false. But itit all depends on what you eat. If you fill in the pizza and spaghetti, and then forget to lose weight. Eventually you will take some weight this way. It all comes down to this: you must have a balanced and healthy meal. Only then you can lose unwanted weight.

Myth # 9: It is secret fad diets that you need to lose weight

Ok, this is not a complete lie either. There are fad diets out there that will help you lose weight butThey key word here is "temporary." They certainly will not help you live a healthy life. So, for the long term do yourself a favor and stay off the latest fad diets. Start a healthy diet and exercise program and you begin to see results that you can enjoy in the long term.

Myth # 10: Exercise and a healthy diet you will lose weight

You must ask yourself why I put this as a myth when this whole article, I told you to get a healthy diet andexercise program. Ok, this is not a myth. But this is only a partial truth. The problem with most people is that they have not adopted the right approach to follow a healthy diet and exercise program. Many people end up doing the "yo-yo" diet they will follow from some fad diet waiver of collection, then another. You need to get in the right mindset before you begin a healthy diet and exercise program and will be part of your healthy lifestyle.
