What Are The Fitness Benifits Of Jogging?
![]() |
Is it considered a cardio type, with full-body toning benifits? Or is is a muscle-builder (I really wouldnt bother since I dont care about building leg muscles). Is there a way to do it with asthma?

Jogging is cardio- pure and simple. Of course you use your leg muscles and it will help you tone, but to build muscle in your legs, you have to do strength training.
In terms of jogging with asthma- i have it too so I can help you here.
Use your inhaler first- I use xoponex, this is a type of albuterol inhaler. Use your inhaler about 30 minutes before you run. Warm up really well- walk for about 10 minutes first. If it is cold do not run outdoors, the cold air is too hard on your lungs.
Do not give up. The more fit you get, the more conditioned your heart and lungs will become and it will actually improve your asthma. Honestly- I couldnt even run the mile in high school (even using the inhaler I still couldnt breathe) and now I am 28 and I run like it is nobody’s business.
I promise it gets easier you just have to keep at it.
