There is no such thing as a “healthy” amount of diet soda. What you need to consider is making sure you get enough of the “good” fluids such as water to balance out the bad (such as any sodas, fruit juices high in sugar, etc.). It’s all about balance, and remaining well hydrated.
The reaction of the diet drinks has shown to effect the blood the same way as normal sugar soda. In fact, I know several people who have blamed weight gain on diet soda.
I would say that with the potential risks of cancer from diet drink sources, I would suggest a nice refreshing glass of orange juice and ditch the soda all together.
don’t drink any soda at all – diet or not, it’s terrible for your teeth and not especially good for your body. a small amount won’t kill you, but the less, the better.

As mentioned above, and in many, many, many other sites, both are bad for you.
Regular Soda – has so much artificial sugar that’s physically and mentally damaging for kids, let alone adults.. Has chemicals that are unnatural and also damaging. Note the word Artificial Sugar, which is different than the natural sugar which you need and is good for you
Diet Soda – the chemicals are bad, carcinogenic, etc.. The artificial sweetners are extremly bad, man made, and cancerous.. Read about them (start in wikipedia to get a quick overview), such as aspartame, dextrose, etc.. For example, Aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar! Sucralose x600!, heck Alitame is 2,000 times sweeter than sugar!
As an alternative, I’d go for natural sugars, like ones in fruit-juices, orange juice, fruit cocktails, etc… And again take care that the sugars are real, not artificial, and the fruit-juices are from fresh fruits, not concentrate or fruit-flavorings… It’s amazing how industries keeps trying to trick us again and again….
