Well, the whole process is averaging about 5 months if you don’t have a lot of residences, travel outside the United States, etcetera. So, it doesn’t take long to get the fitness test scheduled.
Many times, but not always, the fitness test, oral hiring board and medical screening are all scheduled for the same day.
The test consists of timed push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and a cardio test. The cardio test consists of taking your pulse rate prior to the test, then repeatedly stepping up onto and off of a 12-18″ step at a timed rate. They then take your ending pulse at the conclusion of the test.
The physical test is easy and is often passed by people that ultimately fail the physical training at the academy. You don’t have to be an excellent athelete, but you do need to be in fair shape to attend.
