Is 13 To Young For Kickboxing As A Fitness Thing?

By Diet | Feb 24, 2010

I currently do karate but I would like to get fitter. Me and my friend (both 13) were thinking of joining maybe a gym to start kickboxing.

It’s probably ok. Being fit is always good and the younger you start (being healthy that is) the longer it lasts you. The only potential problem I could think of is your body is not done developing yet… I dont know if you get injured if it can mess up your body later.
I would go see a doctor first definitely. You always should, no matter who or how old you are. You have to make sure it is a good idea and that you are fit/able/ok/set to go.

Isn’t just sitting there a fitness thing at age 13? haha anyway, I think kickboxing would be a great way to focus a lot of energy and learn lessons that you probably couldn’t be taught in too many places. And it’s a great way to learn how to defend yourself. (And to NOT start fights :P ) I am somewhere in the 20’s-30’s area, and I am about to start MMA training for the same reasons. Just because it’s fun, a little competative, and possibly one of the best ways to work out you can think of.

Nope, go for it, but talk to the instructor first about what you want.
