What Is The Difference Between E An Exercise Bike With A Magnetic Flywheel And A Regular Flywheel?

I am thinking of buying a stationary exercise bike. I’m unsure if a magnetic flywheel or regular flywheel will suit my purpose, I want to use it for short sprinting sessions.

Magnetic flywheels last longer and require less maintenance than mechanical types. The resistance is also more consistent as the exercise bike ages. The magnetic types are also better adapted to electronic controls, if that is what your bike has. I have also seen air resistance where you pedal against a fan. You could not change the resistance on that particular model.
Once you get a flywheel up to speed, its momentum will keep it spinning without you needing to expend much energy. Thus, most flywheel systems use friction to provide resistance to pedaling. The braking device may or may not work very well.
As the name implies, magnetic flywheel systems use magnetism to provide resistance. You can usually get fairly finely graduated resistance levels with a magnetic system.
A third type of system provides resistance with fluids. These typically have the finest graduations in resistance.
Be sure you pick an exercise bike that is comfortable. I tend to find most exercise bikes to be miserably uncomfortable after just a short period.
If you already have a bike you are comfortable with, you may want to consider getting a trainer instead of an exercise bike. A trainer allows you to put your bike in a stand which holds your bike upright and provides resistance.

a magnetic fly wheel changes how hard it is to pedal with magnets and a normal flywheel uses another mechanical mechanism… magnetic ones last longer but if you wont use it too much get a normal flywheel
The magnetic resistance unit is a better unit for a number of reasons. It creates resistance using magnetic force. As you vary the effort level you increase or decrease the magnetic pull on the hub. They are more expensive than mechanical resistance units, but offer a couple of good benefits. First, the resistance is generally smoother as overcoming magnetic force is more uniform. A mechanical resistance unit could feel uneven based upon imperfections in the wheel or other aspects of the unit. Second, they last longer as they have no friction exposed parts to wear down.
