Losing 2 pounds per week is the magic number for a diet. How many times have you said if you lose more2 pounds per week, you start to lose muscle? Consequently, most systems are tuned to lose about 2 kg of fat per week. No wonder no one sticks to a diet for very long!

And you know, with a good exercise program, you can get the same results as the schemes, or about 2 pounds per week.

Being creatures of logic that we humans are, it goes without saying that if you can lose 2 pounds a week by dieting and 2 pounds per week through exercise, you should be able to doubleresults to 4 pounds per week in the making!

But this is not what is happening, is it? Together, they tend to cancel out the effects of the other and you still end up with about 2 pounds per week.

Is it? Are we limited by a physiological abnormality that we hold about 2 pounds per week? No, there are scientific studies that show the results of weight loss are much higher than 2 pounds per week.

Well what about what we said to losemuscle if we lose weight too quickly and slowing down the metabolism? No, it's yet another one of the myths of fat loss. There are studies that show an increase in muscle mass and metabolism programs for weight loss with caloric intake of less than 800 calories.

Is it all about the calories? Not at all. Results of a program of interval training exercise, while consuming less calories than a regular session of aerobic exercise that results in a significantly greaterrate of loss of fat that exercise burns more calories. Other studies show that when the total number of calories used with weight training and cardio workout, the results show a radical difference in the amount of fat loss.

Other studies about nutrition show that when the protein source is changed, it is possible to double the muscle mass gained and fat lost, even without changing the total caloric intake or activitylevels.

And yet another myth of the fat loss broke a study showing that the change of source of dietary fat resulted in a measurable reduction in body fat, again without changing caloric intake or the amount of activity or the exercise.

The conclusion of all these facts is that the long-standing myths of fat loss that limits us to two pounds per week is just that – a myth. You can safely and effectively lose much more than 2 poundsweek – you just need the right program of diet, exercise and nutrition.
