How can I do to start walking to lose weight?

There are several bike / hiking trails around my area and I would like the weather warms up, start walking for weight loss and pleasure. What is the best way to start so I’m not going too far, and tired, then walk? How can I avoid blisters? What clothing and footwear should be worn? I am overweight, and I really want to find santé.Merci advance!
