Are there really good fats and bad fats? Then the good fats actually help you lose fat?

Believe it or not, fats are actually one of the primary plant nutrients and serve many important body functions:

primary fuel for light to moderate exercise
Provide the body with essential fatty acids
Ensure the proper functioning of cell membranes, skin and hormones.
Transport of fat soluble vitamins.

So why do fats get such a bad reputation in our society?

Well, some types offat, saturated fat and trans fats, are associated with an increased risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes and some cancers. These types of fats increase your bad cholesterol, leaving you more susceptible to heart attacks. Trans fat lowers your good cholesterol as well! In fact, trans fat is bad for you that many cities have taken steps to force restaurants to eliminate trans fats.

But a couple of good fatspecifically monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats, may actually reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering your bad cholesterol. They also serve important functions such as growth and brain function.

Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are found in many oils like extra virgin olive oil and canola oil and safflower oil. They are also present in fatty fish like salmon and trout, as well as lawyers and peanut butter all-natural. In addition, most seeds and nutscontain these fats as well. They respond to a major role in energy performance and serve to improve overall health by reducing bad cholesterol.

Saturated fats are usually found in fatty meats (meats very marbled), butter, mayonnaise and whole milk products. Trans fats, the devil of nutrition is found in many fast foods and fried foods and Many snack foods like chips and cookies. Trans fats are also very common in baked goods like donuts.

USDACanada's Food Guide recommends 3-6 tablespoons of good fats per day for a 2,000 calorie diet. In addition, if you want to lose weight and stay healthy, you should avoid saturated fats and trans fats as much as you can. For fats, try cooking the peppers and onion in 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil for a delicious meal to many.
